Small but mighty the shove knife is a forcible entry tool typically used to release the locking mechanism on outward and inward swinging doors.
6" long steel with an indented end and protective sleeve for when not in use. This is the fastest most damage free way of opening residential and office interior doors with key-in-the-knob locks.
If the door opens inward (away from you), you shove the thin, flexible blade in back of the molding stop and push or slide the blade to retract the latch. For doors that open outwards (toward you), the rescue shove knife is slipped in from above or below the latch point and jiggled and pulled to hook and retract the latch.
